The 15th Children in Need golf day held at Howley Hall Golf Club was again a great success and donations to charity is likely to be £15,000.
The annual event was the brainchild of group chairman John Winn in 2002 when he was vice captain of the club and donations will reach £275,000 this year.
The event is extremely popular with teams travelling from all over the country to compete. It is supported by Gordon Sherry, ex British amateur champion, who conducts the auction. This year we had the pleasure of Sandy Lyle joining us who hosted the “Beat the Pro Challenge” on the 18th hole. Rob Walley not only beat Sandy but was also closest to the pin winning a golf bag in the process.
